This episode features two tracks from Moe Bandy's Greatest Hits, Moe being a former rodeo cowboy who became tired of broken bones, so opted for a life of singing country music. Next, we bring you Sides 2 and 3 of the Warner/Reprise Loss Leader, Hot Platters (side 1 "Rock Salad" was given to you in a late October episode). Of note was the, at the time, unreleased track, "Animals in the Zoo" by The Kinks on Side 3. Side 2 is donned "Stout Hearted Stew" and also features Randy Newman, a post-Apple Jackie Lomax, Norman Greenbaum, Ron Nagle, and Gordon Lightfoot. Side 3, donned "Kin Kasserole" includes "Feel Flows" from Surf's Up by The Beach Boys, written by Carl Wilson and Jack Riely, Fanny, the Stoval Sisters performing Norman Greenbaum's "Spririt in the Sky", and as aforementioned, the Kinks. The show closes with a damaged vinyl version of The Rolling Stones' "Happy" (sorry for the skips), which appears to have some mix-down variances from the single and Exile on Main Street versions. This version was lifted from Superstars of the 70's (there should be no apostrophe on 70s), which was a 4-record set issued by Warner Bros to compete with K-Tel's Today's Super Greats (K-Tel TU-231), a three record set of licenses from many labels. The Warners collection includes a nice presentation of artists from the newly conglomerated Warner Communications, consisiting of Warner/Elektra/Atlantic (aka WEA) and associated labels such as Asylum and Cotillion.
