The Beatles' "We Can Work it Out" single, Capitol 5555, with its flip side, "Day Tripper", presented here in mono, just as you would have heard it on the AM radio or the mono version of the US album, "Yesterday"...And Today; then from the Warner/Reprise Loss Leader, Hot Platters, is "Blues Plate Special" (Side 4), with Ry Cooder, Big Mama Thornton, John D. Loudermilk, Beaver & Krause, Ronnie Milsap, and Mother Earth...continuing in the folksey vein are artists such as Raffi with the title track from his adult-hood attempt, Evergreen Everblue, Merle Haggard with one of three live versions of "Okie From Muskogee", and Jim Croce's single "I Got A Name" with its b-side, which is also an album track from I Got A Name, "Alabama Rain". Due to a defective CDR, the recording of today's segments were shifted by ten minutes, thus one track that was intended for The Band Wagon, is featured here on It's My Vinyl: Dane Scozzari with a track from 2010: Profile of Humanity, an actual recording that was made live at Milard Auditorium at the University of Hartford in April 2010 (it was a senior recital - Dane is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of University of Hartford's Hartt School of Music). The Band Wagon continues on the Nov 20 post.

Welcome to the Friday All Night Show...ten minutes late due to a defective CDR...we fade in with Waty, and her single, "Rabbit". Other tracks include Joel Plasket, a talented indie artist from Dartmouth-Halifax NS CAN, and two tracks from his 3-CD set, Three. Taking from WWUH's new music libraries (rock and folk), the show rounds out with tracks from You Me At Six, Perfume Genius, Shawn Camp, and Kendl Winter. Before the failed CDR, we had featured two new artists who will be mainstays on The Bandwagon, Dane Scozzari* with his new album 2010: Profile of Humanity, and Aimee Brownlee**, with her song "Put Your Hands On Me" from her EP, East of Leaving. "Put Your Hands On Me" is a breathtaking love song that has just the right production to heighten the intesity of the lyrics and the intimacy of the song. Her manager tells us that she only plays it live in New York City, because it is there that she has a piano player (for live gigs with her full band). Her other shows and tours are "low overhead" productions consisting of Addie and her guitar. *Dane Scozzari's tracks are heard on the subsequent podcasts for November 20, 2010, It's My Vinyl and The Band Wagon. **Aimee Brownlee's track "Put Your Hands On Me" was also replayed in order to be included in the podcasts, and found on The Band Wagon.

This episode of It's My Vinyl was broadcast on August 14, 2010, between 4am and 5am and features the album Gold by Neil Diamond, in its entirety. It's a capture of classic Neil in his singer/songwriter folk days circa 1970. The LP was originally issued on the Uni Records label, distributed by Universal Records and MCA. Because it's a live album and contains live versions of Neil's hits on Bang Records, Uni can capitalize on the lucrative Bang catalogue for Neil by issuing this album, but, truly, it is a good performance, and the songs are presented in their live versions very well. It was later re-issued on MCA with the sky blue label imprint and is, now, likely available on CD.

This episode features two tracks from Moe Bandy's Greatest Hits, Moe being a former rodeo cowboy who became tired of broken bones, so opted for a life of singing country music. Next, we bring you Sides 2 and 3 of the Warner/Reprise Loss Leader, Hot Platters (side 1 "Rock Salad" was given to you in a late October episode). Of note was the, at the time, unreleased track, "Animals in the Zoo" by The Kinks on Side 3. Side 2 is donned "Stout Hearted Stew" and also features Randy Newman, a post-Apple Jackie Lomax, Norman Greenbaum, Ron Nagle, and Gordon Lightfoot. Side 3, donned "Kin Kasserole" includes "Feel Flows" from Surf's Up by The Beach Boys, written by Carl Wilson and Jack Riely, Fanny, the Stoval Sisters performing Norman Greenbaum's "Spririt in the Sky", and as aforementioned, the Kinks. The show closes with a damaged vinyl version of The Rolling Stones' "Happy" (sorry for the skips), which appears to have some mix-down variances from the single and Exile on Main Street versions. This version was lifted from Superstars of the 70's (there should be no apostrophe on 70s), which was a 4-record set issued by Warner Bros to compete with K-Tel's Today's Super Greats (K-Tel TU-231), a three record set of licenses from many labels. The Warners collection includes a nice presentation of artists from the newly conglomerated Warner Communications, consisiting of Warner/Elektra/Atlantic (aka WEA) and associated labels such as Asylum and Cotillion.

...this show fades in with the last songs from John Scott's 11/06 episode of Underground Radio, which airs every Friday to Saturday, midnight to 3am, prior to the Friday All Night Show. He leaves us with some new live recordings by Buddy Guy. As Underground segues into Friday All Night, programming continues with "Let Me Roll It" recorded live by Paul McCartney and presented on his Good Evening New York City album of last year. The coda of this live version showcases Paul playing a Jimi Hendrix-esque lead guitar in a "Purple Haze"-ish jam for the last minute of the track. The show continues with the 45 RPM mono versions of The Beatles' "Act Naturally" b/w "Yesterday". The oddity here is the realization that "Yesterday" is actually the b-side in the US, and never released as a single in the UK. In 1965 it soon becomes the DJs' favorite and shoots to no. 1 in the US and also becomes the most recorded song of all time. The mono versions here are the same as the mono versions found on the mono UK album Help! and the mono US version of the album "Yesterday"...and Today. You'll notice some variance in Paul's double tracked vocal on the bridges of "Yesterday" when compared to the US stereo mixes. Next, the show brings you tracks from the new remaster issue of The Monkees' Head, the soundtrack to their film of the same name. The movie is written and produced by Bob Rafelson and Jack Nicholson (prior to Easy Rider) and features appearances by Annette Funicello, Sonny Liston, and Frank Zappa. It is a creative look at anything anti-Monkee, connecting skit-like scene after scene together until rejoined with the opening scene. The Monkees are depicted as The Monkees rebelling against their image, which, as time would have it, they'll never escape. Rhino reissues the original Colgems LP on CD, with rare versions, out takes, and a 45 RPM single of the instrumental versions of "Porpoise Song (Theme from "Head")" (produced by Gerry Goffin and written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin, who also co-authored "Pleasant Valley Sunday" together) and "As We Go Along" (produced by The Monkees). In addition, the reissue includes and open ended interview disc that was issued at the time for DJs to appear to be speaking on the phone with Davy Jones about the movie. Sam Scozzari takes a stab at appearing authentic, but the spoof is all too obvious and only lasts several minutes. The hour continues with music by Marshall Crenshaw and a first-hour preview of a new unsigned artist to the Bandwagon, Annie Calder (Note: The Band Wagon is also coming up in the 5am hour and available as a separate podcast).
